Nonfiction Monday: Mission to the Moon

Mission to the Moon. Alan Dyer. 2009. May 2009. Simon & Schuster. 80 pages.

I hardly know where to start with this one. Do I recommend it? Yes! If you know anyone that loves learning about space, about the space program, about the moon, then this book is definitely a good place to start. Why? Because there is so much information here! So many photographs! So many charts and diagrams! It's incredibly detailed. This one is arranged thematically. Each two page spread covers a specific topic or area. The layout is reader friendly. And the photographs--the color photographs especially--make this one visually appealing.

It isn't the complete story of the space program. No 80 page book could tell everything there is to tell. But it is a good place to start. (Especially if you know readers who are more about the pictures than the text.)

I would recommend pairing this one with Almost Astronauts so you get a more balanced picture of the strengths and weaknesses of the space program.

Would kids who are into space enjoy it, or is it more of a book for adults?
