Cybils Updates

I have now read 52 of the 123 titles nominated for Cybils in the Young Adult category. Of the 52, 45 have been reviewed. The seven titles not yet reviewed are: Diamonds In the Shadow, Remembering Raquel, Leaving Paradise, Billie Standish Was Here, Revenge of the Homecoming Queen, Dawn and Dusk, and Revolution Is Not A Dinner Party. There for a while, it looked like I would never get caught up. You might think being behind seven is not really "caught" up. But believe me, compared to the fourteen or sixteen it was a few days ago, it's close enough to cause me some cheer. :) Of course the frenzied reading is not nearly over. Not by a long shot.

So once you're a reviewer for the Cybil awards, how do you get the books? Do you get a free copy of each one or are you expected to acquire them yourself? Just curious because I'd love to be on the review board next year.

Em,

Publishers are asked to donate review copies to the panelists. There are six of us on the YA committee. But it's a request not a demand of course. The "TBR" pile comes from those I've received from publishers. The "Waiting For Arrival" list are titles I still haven't received and may not receive.

A few titles (probably a dozen) I've borrowed from the library.

Thanks for the info. I work at a bookstore so I can check books out pretty easily but I doubt we even have all of the books that were nominated. It's so many! Have fun reading them. :)
